Chers amis de l’ Alliance Française d’El Paso

The Board of the Alliance Française d’El Paso joins me to wish you happy holidays with the hope that you will be surrounded by family and/or friends during the holiday season. On behalf of the Board, thank you for your support and friendship during a difficult year while grieving the loss of Maud, our dear friend and best cheerleader of the Alliance for decades. We wish her family a peaceful time together as they reminisce the wonderful memories of a doting mother and grandmother.

The year 2024 has been quite busy, especially during the fall while preparing for the 60th Anniversary gala attended by approximately 50 members and friends and accompanied quite nicely by the music of the Jazz Unlimited Big Band. Again, many thanks to Mike McHale for the great coordination of the music played by 16 musicians. What a treat! I also want to thank the members of the Board, especially Sandy McHale, who played a major role in the success of the gala. The video showing 60 years of history of the Alliance Française was especially meaningful. I also want to recognize the 60th Anniversary Gala Committee composed of the Board officers as well as Celia Berton and Angela Mora, who were instrumental in gathering items for the Silent Auction. While we were disappointed that Madame Baraban, Consule Generale de France in Houston, had to cancel her visit shortly before the gala, we are looking forward to her visit in the Spring. We will contact you as soon as we have more details, probably by the end of January.

We had a very successful Fête de Noël at University Presbyterian Church with good food and great company. Many thanks to Mike McHale for planning and coordinating the French Christmas carols sing along. We were lucky to have Buche de Noel for dessert prepared by Brianna Paredes, one of our students, and Amy Lamborn, newly elected Secretary of the Board. Merci Mesdames pour un dessert delicieux!

The Board will be meeting in early January to plan the 2025 activities, and the next membership meeting during which the 2025 Board of Officers will be installed. In the meantime, we wish you the best of holidays, and a healthy and happy New Year 2025. We are looking forward to seeing you again with the hope that you will renew your membership for the upcoming year.
